DIRECTORS
DAVID BOYLAN David has over 20 years experience in executive search and selection having joined Mason & Nurse Associates in 1986. His considerable executive recruitment experience has been built on a progressive and senior level career within three diverse industry sectors: food, retail & distribution and automotive.
David’s roles encompassed organisation and management development, executive resourcing and training at Cadbury’s, Littlewoods and Rover, where each of these businesses were transitioning from a strong traditional culture to the design and implementation of ‘best practice’ initiatives and programmes. He was closely involved in these programmes, observing how executive teams and individuals responded to the challenges and provided strategies and solutions to support changes.
This detailed, systematic and objective approach, so important at that time, is now part of the rigorous recruitment process that is an integral part of Mason and Nurse Associates.
David is Managing Director and Co-Partner, having steered the firm from having a strong local presence in the Midlands manufacturing sector to one which now has a global client base.
MARTIN BRADDOCK Martin has over 25 years senior management experience across a broad range of industry sectors in HR; Sales; Business Development and General Management.
His early career was in Employee Relations and Management Training with Land Rover and Rover, before joining Rank Xerox. He was HR Director for the European & US Security & Communications Division of BET, specialising in organisation and management development, senior level recruitment, acquisitions and integrations. As MD of Securicor Alarms, Martin managed the integration of this business, following its acquisition, before becoming CEO of a privately-owned electronic security company. He then worked in the vehicle leasing sector, primarily managing business-unit turn-arounds.
Martin is Director and Co-Partner of Mason & Nurse Associates, specialising in executive & leadership coaching, resourcing and change management consultancy with clients in the business & financial services, engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Holding a Technology and Management Degree from Bradford University; an Accredited LIFO* (Life Orientations) Executive Coach and a Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching (a qualification accredited by Middlesex University and the International Coaching Federation). He is also a Leadership Consultant and Coach with the National College of School Leadership.

JENNY MCENTEE, RESEARCH MANAGER Jenny was born and raised in the Netherlands where she gained a Degree in International Hospitality Management. Her early career was spent with the Marriott Group in the USA & UK and on returning to the Netherlands she successfully changed sectors to pursue a career in recruitment working with international as well as local clients.
She moved to the UK several years ago and is now responsible for leading our executive search activity, co-coordinating our processes and systems to ensure we continue to achieve the high standards we set. She also brings valuable experience in recruitment outsourcing. Jenny’s language skills are a vital asset as we continue to undertake global assignments.
TONY BAILEY Following training as a journalist and an early career in Advertising, Tony founded his own group of companies offering Human Resources Consultancy services focused on executive search & selection and outplacement and successfully led and developed the business for over 25 years. He was a Non Executive Director of a Training and Enterprise Council and the Founder member of the Birmingham Branch of International Training in Communication – a not for profit organisation providing training in all aspects of communication including public speaking and presentations, parliamentary procedure, broadcasting, speech writing and delivery.
Tony was also a founder member of “Compact” - a not for profit initiative bringing together a local education authority, secondary school students and members of the Business Community with the aim of providing a link between business and an inner city school in Birmingham.
At Mason & Nurse Associates, Tony specialises in executive search & selection, outplacement and interim projects, providing solutions to clients in the energy, engineering, manufacturing and business services sectors.
PETER SHERRATT Peter Sherratt’s early career was spent in HR and management development within the Automotive and IT sectors. He then moved into consultancy and worked for two of the most respected names in the search and selection sector.
Over his 20 years in consultancy he has gained substantial search experience working with a range of blue chip clients in sectors such as aerospace and defence, automotive, FMCG, professional services and construction. He has designed and run many competency based assessment and development centres.
Peter also works in talent management especially leadership and team building utilising outdoor development as well as facilitating senior teams and management conferences. He has a sporting background having competed at international level and is a highly qualified coach who has coached elite sportsman and who works with premier, national and international squads on player development.
BOB TOMKYS Bob operated as a highly successful Interim Manager for 15 years, delivering effective business solutions for a wide range of sectors from Utilities to Business Process Outsourcing, Retail and Distribution & Manufacturing.
Prior to commencing his Interim Management career, Bob held a number of senior finance roles at Group & Board level in private sector organisations, gaining extensive experience of business process improvement and tight financial management and control systems.
Bob is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Interim Specialist for Mason & Nurse Associates.
EMILY SIMPSON, RESEARCH ASSOCIATE Emily’s early career was in the hospitality sector, with increasing responsibility, she eventually found herself running a one hundred and forty bedroom, family owned hotel in South Devon!
A move to London brought about a change of career and into executive search. After three years with one of the major international search firms, Emily joined a niche consultancy to create and manage the dedicated research function for a team of ten executive search consultants specialising in a number of vertical sectors including pharmaceutical, automotive, aerospace, construction, FMCG, retail, financial services.
As Research Associate for Mason & Nurse, Emily brings over 15 years of experience into our Team playing a vital part in the planning of assignments to ensure a timely and successful outcome.
HARRY HOEY Harry brings his invaluable experience of living and working in Asia and Europe to our Team. As a senior executive working for large global engineering enterprises, he has spent 9 of the last 15 years based in Japan where he held regional responsibility for manufacturing facilities and supply chains in China, Korea and India. This included resourcing of new facilities, new product introduction and approval, implementation of total quality management / cost improvement programmes, product relocation and the setting up of a supplier risk assessment and development organisation to support manufacturing plants worldwide.
More recently following his return to the UK, Harry has advised UK, North American and APAC companies on a number of major assignments including: search and selection of MD and functional heads for clients in Japan and China; the recruitment of technical specialists in Quality and Supplier Development to support the restructuring of a North American organisation; the relocation of manufacturing operations from the UK and Australia to China.
CONSULTANTS - COACHING & TALENT MANAGEMENT
LAURA HAINES Laura has over 20 years experience in Human Resource Management within the automotive industry. As HR Director for the Sales & Marketing Division of an automotive manufacturer her experience covered all aspects of HR management with a particular emphasis on managing change and organisational restructuring.
At Mason & Nurse Associates, Laura specialises in providing 1 to 1 executive coaching and integrated management learning programmes for clients within the automotive, manufacturing, retail, financial services and not-for-profit sectors, also providing related executive and management resourcing solutions where appropriate. Laura’s coaching style is open, probing, thoughtful and when necessary, challenging.
She is a graduate of Coach U, the original coach training school, and a member of the International Coach Federation. Laura also works as a volunteer Business Mentor for the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
STEVE EDGEWORTH Steve specialises in providing one to one executive coaching and mentoring, career management programmes and customised outplacement support. He works with clients in a structured and supportive way that is solution focused and action orientated.
He was previously the HR Director for an energy utility company (FTSE 100) where he led major organisational/cultural change programmes and he has extensive experience of designing HR Strategies, implementing change and developing talent.
A Fellow of the CIPD and a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, he holds an Advanced Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring from the Oxford School (accredited by Oxford Brookes University) and a certificate in life coaching . Steve is also a visiting lecturer on change management, coaching and talent management at Birmingham City University.
SEAN WATTS With over 20 years in HR management Sean has developed his trade with some notable Blue Chip companies, including Co-operative Financial Services, the Nationwide Building Society, AXA, Argos Retail Group and BAE Systems. He has operated as Consultant, HR Business Partner and HR Director.
His experience includes working with a Global Business Process Outsourcer, advising them on a radical overhaul of their resourcing and sourcing strategy and advising one of the UK’s largest independent providers of career management services.
At Mason & Nurse Associates, Sean helps organisations to attract and retain talented people in a world where the nature of work is changing fast. Sean develops commercial solutions in employer branding and reputation management, employee engagement strategies, workforce capability planning, talent acquisition and resourcing strategy.
ANITA MORRIS Anita is a business psychologist with a wealth of experience in behavioural change within a wide range of organisations in different sectors. Her career background includes management accountancy and sales & marketing, becoming Sales Director with one of Europe’s largest plastics manufacturers. She now spreads her time working with both individuals and teams at senior and middle management levels.
Her specialist areas at Mason & Nurse are leadership development, executive coaching, executive outplacement, emotional intelligence and psychometric assessment.
Anita holds a BA in Business Studies, a BSc in Applied Psychology and an MSc in Occupational Psychology and has built a reputation for individual and organisational performance improvement through the design and delivery of innovative training programmes which incorporate sports such as falconry and golf. She is also a visiting lecturer at Liverpool John Moore’s University.
